Day 5- Chicago part 2

May 19th, 2013
Chicago Day 2- Church and downtown

Today we woke up, got ready, and headed to church.  The Bourgeois’ stake leadership was reorganized today, so it was stake conference a few cities away.  We were able to here from Elder Marcus Nash of the 70 and he explained the process that is used to receive the revelation for a new Stake President in the LDS church.
After Church, we went back to Bourgeois’ home to change and then we headed for the local train station where we jumped on board and headed to downtown Chicago!  We arrived at Union station and grabbed McDonalds Smoothies, as it is tradition of the BBT’s.   We crossed the river and right in front of us was the Sears tower!  We took pictures with the former tallest building in the world and continued on.  We saw some random statue on the way towards the park/ lake/ pier and I said it was famous (even though it probably isn’t), so we stopped and took pictures.  We soon got to Millennium Park where there really was a work of art that is actually famous (The crown fountain), and then saw the famous bean, a giant mirror shaped like a jelly bean.  That was really cool, so we walked around, took pictures with it, under it, etc.  We walked around the park a little more before heading to the Great Lake of Michigan.
We walked north along the shore for a while until we made it to Navy Pier.  We were told yesterday at the cubs game repeatedly that it was a must see attraction.  Well, he was very wrong! It was just a lame tourist trap, and I would have been fine if I had not gone.  Haha he also said that would be an all day event, which it wasn’t.  We spent probably an hour and a half there and were very satisfied.
We then took another way back, walking along the Chicago river all the way back to Union Station.  It was a pretty walk, as Chicago is a very neat downtown.  Garrett said (and maybe others agreed) that it was his favorite city we have been to now.  I still am a fan of NYC, but Chicago is pretty cool. I love it.  We caught our train back, played some catch in the back yard, and have now spent the rest of the day just chillaxing, playing some pool, etc.  It has been a good day.  Off to bed!
